Bright Eyes - Cassadaga

Cassadaga is the seventh studio album by Bright Eyes, released on April 10, 2007. Around 25 to 30 songs were recorded in 2006, with 13 of these appearing on the final track list. The album is named after the town of Cassadaga, Florida, a community of mediums and followers of spiritualism. Z Berg of the Like, Sherri DuPree and Stacy DuPree of Eisley as well as solo artist Rachael Yamagata all appear on this album.

Achievements:

Cassadaga debuted at No: 4 on the U.S Billboard 200, selling about 58,000 copies in its first week. The album is the 103rd release of Saddle Creek Records. This album was at No: 12 on Rolling Stone's list of the Top 50 Albums of 2007. In the United Kingdom Cassadaga reached number 13 on the UK Albums Chart in April 2007. The first single from the album, "Four Winds" can be heard in the background briefly during the party scene in the 2008 film Cloverfield.

Bright Eyes - Live Acts

On May 2, 2005 Bright Eyes appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and performed the protest song "When the President Talks to God". A 7" vinyl single of the song was sold at concerts soon after. In November 2005, Bright Eyes performed "True Blue" on the children's television show Pancake Mountain.

Bright Eyes has actively protested against the Clear Channel media company. Oberst has vocally advocated the boycotting of all Clear Channel events, venues, and radio stations, perhaps most publicly at the Shortlist Awards show at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles on October 5, 2003. On November 9, 2005, Bright Eyes canceled their November 12 show in St. Louis, Missouri upon discovering that the venue was associated with Clear Channel.

In a skit on the May 20, 2006 episode of Saturday Night Live, Neil Young was joined by Dixie Chicks and "indie sensation Bright Eyes", all of whom have been public in their criticism of George W. Bush. On March 8, 2007, Oberst appeared on National Public Radio's All Songs Considered, playing a selection of tracks in his collection, as well as several from Four Winds. In August 2007, Bright Eyes postponed 3 UK shows due to illness. On September 29, 2007, they performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the historic Hollywood Bowl. Bright Eyes performed at a Barack Obama rally in Omaha, Nebraska on February 7, 2008.

Bright Eyes - folky & electronic sounding Albums

January 25, 2005 saw the release of two distinctly different Bright Eyes albums: the folky, analog sounding I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning and the electronic sounding Digital Ash in a Digital Urn. "At the Bottom of Everything," was the opening song of the album "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning". I'm Wide Awake It's Morning received very positive reviews from music critics on both sides of the Atlantic. The singles "Take It Easy (Love Nothing)" from Digital Ash in a Digital Urn and "Lua" from the album I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning took the top two slots on the Billboard Hot 100 Single Sales chart. Drew Roulette, of alternative rock band dredg, states that Digital Ash in a Digital Urn is one of his favorite albums of all time.

extensive world tour:

An extensive world tour followed the release of those albums. Part one of the Bright Eyes' tour was in support of I'm Wide Awake and the second part was in support of Digital Ash. The first part was more similar to past tours with an intimate band setting. The decision to split the tour this way was practical as it would have been a "logistical nightmare" in terms of equipment and staff to perform songs from both albums simultaneously.

Bright Eyes - Lifted

"Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground" is the fourth album by Bright Eyes. This album is the 46th release of Saddle Creek Records. The band made its national television debut in support of the album, performing "The Trees Get Wheeled Away" (a track that was not on the album) on The Late Show with David Letterman. With Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground in 2002, Bright Eyes became one of the year's most celebrated "new" artists, despite having been recording under that moniker for a few years.

Reception:

Lifted received largely positive reviews, ranking fourth on Rolling Stone's list of the best albums in 2002, and was lauded as a breakthrough album for Bright Eyes and Conor Oberst. Blender magazine ranked the album at 52 on their list of "100 Greatest Indie-Rock Albums Ever", which appeared in the December 2007 issue. They received national attention, including in several notable pieces in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Time magazine, Rolling Stone, Blender, and Spin, many of which proclaimed Conor Oberst to be a significant new artist. The album was a commercial success and has sold over 250,000 copies, a breakthrough for the label and for all of the band's peers at that time. Oberst stated that, before making this record, both he and Mike Mogis had an idea for a "sort of grandiose sound" that neither could really put into words. This was also the first album made after Oberst's break to play with Desaparecidos.

Bright Eyes - Fevers and Mirrors

"Fevers and Mirrors" is the third album by the Nebraskan indie folk band Bright Eyes, recorded in 1999 and released on May 29, 2000. It was the 32nd release of the Omaha, Nebraska-based record label Saddle Creek Records. The album was released later in 2000 in the United Kingdom as the inaugural release from Wichita Recordings.

Bright Eyes' begins with a recording of a little boy reading Mitchell Is Moving, a book by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat. "An Attempt to Tip the Scales" includes what is ostensibly an interview with the band's frontman, Conor Oberst. However, Oberst has admitted that the interview was something of a joke, intended to poke fun at the dark tone of the album. Conor's voice is impersonated in the interview by Todd Fink of The Faint and Commander Venus. The man interviewing is Matt Silcock, a former member of Lullaby for the Working Class. This album was included in Bright Eyes' Vinyl Box Set. The LP is currently out of print.

Reception:

The music online magazine Pitchfork Media placed Fevers and Mirrors at number 170 on their list of top 200 albums of the 2000s despite a low initial score of 5.4/10.

A vinyl re-release of the album was included in the Bright Eyes Vinyl Box Set. Guest musicians include members of Neutral Milk Hotel, Tilly and the Wall, and Of Montreal. This album is the 23rd release of Saddle Creek Records. The Album boasted a more focused and clearer sound than the previous album. Although almost all of the tracks from Bright Eyes' album "Letting Off the Happiness" featured a full band, "June on the West Coast" is performed with only acoustic guitar and vocals. "Padraic My Prince" gives a dramatic fictional account of the death of his baby brother, a story with a multitude of symbolic meanings. Bright Eyes - First Studio Album

"A Collection of Songs Written and Recorded 1995-1997" is the first officialalbum by Bright Eyes. The album is the first release by Conor Oberst and features his vocals and guitar. This album is the 19th release of Saddle Creek Records. The album saw Oberst beginning to experiment with drum machines, keyboards and other instruments. The sound of the album ranges from bleating vocals to acoustic guitar songs and techno-style synthesizer instrumentals. Critical reaction was negative, with Allmusic saying that many of "the songs disintegrate as his vocals are reduced to the unintelligible babbling of a child. Any balance the music maintained up to that point, however fragile, is lost and so, more than likely, is the listener."

List of Musicians:

Conor Oberst - Wrote and performed the majority of the songs.
Ted Stevens - Plays drums on The Awful Sweetness of Escaping Sweat.
Todd Fink - Recorded and drummed on A Celebration Upon Completion.
M. Bowen - Played drums on One Straw.
Neely Jenkins - Backup vocals on Feb. 15th.
Matthew Oberst, Sr. - Played guitar on "The 'Feel Good' Revolution"

Bright Eyes is signed to Saddle Creek Records, an American label also founded by Oberst and distributed by Sony Corporation.
