Bright Eyes - folky & electronic sounding Albums

January 25, 2005 saw the release of two distinctly different Bright Eyes albums: the folky, analog sounding I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning and the electronic sounding Digital Ash in a Digital Urn. "At the Bottom of Everything," was the opening song of the album "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning". I'm Wide Awake It's Morning received very positive reviews from music critics on both sides of the Atlantic. The singles "Take It Easy (Love Nothing)" from Digital Ash in a Digital Urn and "Lua" from the album I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning took the top two slots on the Billboard Hot 100 Single Sales chart. Drew Roulette, of alternative rock band dredg, states that Digital Ash in a Digital Urn is one of his favorite albums of all time.

extensive world tour:

An extensive world tour followed the release of those albums. Part one of the Bright Eyes' tour was in support of I'm Wide Awake and the second part was in support of Digital Ash. The first part was more similar to past tours with an intimate band setting. The decision to split the tour this way was practical as it would have been a "logistical nightmare" in terms of equipment and staff to perform songs from both albums simultaneously.
